Letter: More from McGaha from Jason Harmon Notes on photo from McGaha reunion at Pleasant View Baptist Church, the Old Log Church at the Mouth of Butler To the editor, CM: Attached is a picture from the McGaha Reunion about 25 years ago at the old log church. The names are on it, but just in case you can't read them: Bottom row, Left to Right: Marvin Conover, Allie McGaha Conover, Lula McGaha Sapp, Calvin McGaha, Nolen McGaha, Otis McGaha Top Row, Left to right: Vertis McGaha, Vert McGaha, Emma Dile McGaha, I am not sure who the young boy and the lady in the jogging suit are. Otis McGaha, Lula Sapp, Allie Conover, Nolen McGaha and Vertis McGaha were all children of George and Minnie (Burton) McGaha. Calvin McGaha is probably substitiuting for his father, Curtis McGaha, in the photo. Curtis McGaha was also a son of George and Minnie McGaha, but was deceased by the time of this photo. Is Odis Sinlcair a brother to Peewee? If so, I met him once at Bearwallow and talked to him briefly at his mom and dad's grave. I'm sure it was forgettable to him, but I never forget a name or face. I gave Mr. Gilbert Curry a call. I thought Gilbert just ran the store at Vester, but he has ran several stores in the county. We are both under the impression that Mr. Oscar Smiley was the first owner of that store house in McGaha. Mr. Smiley ran a larger store, but my uncle, Bill McGaha told me that it burned. Oscar Smiley used the insurance money to build the more recent store in the same location of his original store. Jason Harmon Editor's note: Thanks for the wonderful photograph. Yes, Odis is Pee Wee's brother To see the last item in the McGaha thread, Click Here This story was posted on 2007-02-12 20:10:50
