Lake Cumberland levels to be reduced immediately The water levels at Lake Cumberland are being reduced starting immediately, in order to reduce pressure on the dam and facilitate repairs. According to the Army Corps of Engineers, Wolf Creek Dam is now considered among their highest risk dams. Lowering the water level and other steps already underway should significantly reduce the risk right away, but full repairs are expected to take about a year. State officials are predicting some impact on tourism around Lake Cumberland. For more information, see this Courier-Journal story. This story was posted on 2007-01-22 12:31:34
