TODAY, Fri. , Oct. 20, 2006, Time to take an Adair fall tour

Good morning! Big items today, in clock order, not necessary of importance: 1) The Fall PRIDE cleanup in progress. Free tipping for Adair County residents at the transfer station continues today. 2) The Col. Wm. Casey Fall Festival starts at 5:00pm. 3) Lindsey Wilson's Homecoming starts today and continues through tomorrow. 4) The Republicans hold a campaign rally at the Fairgrounds at 6:00pm. Click on Events, below or in Quick Links, for details.

Adv: Today's Events are brought to you by HUDDLE HOUSE, across KY 210 from Wal-Mart, Campbellsville, KY. Join us for great food. Breakfasts are served 24/7/365, along with the mouth-watering lunch and dinner entrees. Eat with home folks. You never know who you'll run into from Adair County at the HUDDLE HOUSE. Gaylon & Phyllis Yarberry, owners

Note: We've seen giants of Columbia government, Adair County civic leaders, captains of industry, business, and finance, and other wonderful Adair Countians at the HUDDLE HOUSE, most of whom were willing to share a table when we talked to them in the waiting line that does sometimes runs out the front door. But the food is worth the wait, which does allow bonding with other FOGs, Friends of Galen. -ED
Traffic and parking.Again today, there should be less traffic, more parking available in Downtown Columbia. No court cases are scheduled today in Adair District or Circuit Court. To check Adair County Court docket, click on Kentucky Court of Justice or Go to Quick Links. There will be school traffic through the Square, early morning and afternoon. This is National School Bus Safety Week. (Oct. 16-21). Please drive carefully and watch for the big yellow school buses. The drivers are being honored this morning with a ham breakfast at the school bus garage. About 150 are expected to attend, including invited guests.

Fall color The trees are fast turning to reach a peak of color. If you're on systems overload from all the frenetic harvest time events, it may be a good time to chill out, put $5 worth of gas in the tank, and take a leisurely loop on unexplored Adair County roads. Make your own Nothing Weekend You don't have to go to Vermont, Brown County, or Gatlinburg to see red and brown yellow, orange and green-flecked leave; Those places don't have the equal of the Gentle Grandeur that's right here. And no place earth has better country store cuisine. The fromagiers at almost every food establishment in rural Adair County can slice sandwiches from both kinds of cheese, American and cheddar. Beyond that basic, many of our renowned chefs, such as Jewel Brown, offer home cooked meals like your mother used to cook. We're not telling where to find it yet. You better off critiquing the stores yourself.

Friday, October 20, 2006 Election Countdown: The fall election is just 18 days away, from today. Absentee voters can vote by machine in the County Court Clerk's office. You've got just one week, until 4:00pm CT, Wednesday, October 27, 2006, to file a declaration of intent as a write-in candidate (not less than 10 days before election). To check other election dates, call or visit the office of Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton in the Adair County Annex building, or to see the election calendar online, Click Here
