ADAIR COUNTY IS THE PLACE TO BE TODAY. There is already so much underway in Columbia and Adair County right now. There's a full schedule of "Folklore" events in Columbia, there's the big reunion at Breeding, ghost stories at the Giles House, a women's conference at New Life for the Nations, Machismo at the Dream Depot this evening. Adair County will have fabulous food everywhere. Eat hearty today, but save room for Country Ham at the Columbia United Methodist Churchin the evening.
Saturday, October 14, 2006: Spotlight event we've just added. 9:00am to 3:00pm. Country Quilters, is holding their 3rd annual quilt show at Columbia Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall at the rear of the church. Signs will be posted. This event features quilters from our guild and our community. It will be from 9am to 3pm. It is free to the public and we invite everyone to come. -REBECCA GRANT.

Saturday, October 14, 2006: The Janice Holt Giles and Henry Giles Foundation will be hosting "Ghost Stories," featuring Dr. Lynwood Montell, Kentucky author of "Ghosts Along the Cumberland," and author of many more folklore books. The event staarts at 5:30pm CT, with with hot dogs and marshmellows cooked around the grill. A fee will be charged for food. Then ghost stories will be told by Dr. Montell. Saturday, October 14, 2006: New Life for the Nations will have its annual Virtuous Woman's Conference for all girls and woman. This year our speakers are Geri Coulter from Missouri and Connie (Atklinson) Childs of Madisonville, KY. This day begins with fellowship hour at 9:00am CT. Service is from 9:30 to noon. October 14 and 21, 2006, at 7:00pm: Machismo (Greg Blair, Craig Dean, Andy Mann, and Neal Sneed) will be performing at The Dream Depot two Saturdays in a row, October 14 and 21 at 7:00 pm CT. They will be performing some country, pop, and some oldies. This group always keeps the crowd gooing and asking for more, so come out, bring the whole family and enjoy the show.
