Bank of Columbia celebrates 140 years of service A celebration was held last weekend to commemorate 140 years of service to the people of Adair and surrounding counties by the Bank of Columbia. The bank was established in 1866 and today has three locations: The historical downtown bank, the Jamestown Street bank and the Reed Street branch. The special event was held at the Jamestown Street bank where there was room for a tent to cover seating for the crowds both days and also to cover all the good food served up. Prize winners at the Bank of Columbia celebration Friday and Saturday, October 6 and 7, were: Diane Benningfield, John Yarnall, Anthony Ballou, Connie Lane, Zella Cundiff, Arnold Mayse, Barney Taylor, Naomi Green, James Kenyon, Zachary Sapp, Wanda Curtis, Barbara Bennett, Garnett Kessler and Pam Compton. More photographs of the celebration are available at the bank web site. This story was posted on 2006-10-13 10:22:42
