Obituary: Frances Bryant, 91, passes away in Somerset, KY

She was the matriarch of a large Adair County family, who leaves 54 living descendants. She will be laid to rest in Bearwallow Cemetery.

Frances Bryant, age 91 years. a resident of Somerset Nursing & Rehab Somerset, KY, formerly of Sulphur Creek Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday September. 9, 2006, at 3:20pm, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 10:00am CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, withBro. Philip Miller and Bro. Darrell Howard the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery.



She was the daughter of the late Upton and Effie Powell Grider, and the widow of Drury Thomas Bryant, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1985. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Geneva Giles, and one grandson, Adam Heath.

She is survived by the following:
  • Six sons: James E. Bryant and his friend Betty of Miamisburg, OH; Arvil Bryant and his wife Della Fay of Franklin, IN; Welby Donald Bryant; Willard Bryant and his wife Sandra of Columbia, KY; Jackie Bryant and his wife Barbara of Trafalgar, IN; and Alvin Bryant of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Mabel Howard and Louise Heath and her husband Mike of Sumner, IL

  • 17 Grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Frances Bryant was a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation will be after 3:30pm CT, Monday, September 11, 2006.
