Obituary: A.Z. Burris, 83, U.S. Army veteran of World War II Mr. Burris was the patriarch of a large Adair County family. He leaves 34 descendants. A.Z. Burris, 83, 790 Portland RD, Columbia, KY (the Portland Community) died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 5:50pm CT, at his residence. He was a son of the late Alexander and Emma Beard Burris, a member of Pickett's Chapel United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a retired farmer. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 11:00am CT, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Herbert Janes and Bro. William Davenport the officiating clergy. Burial will be in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Burris, Portland, KY, and the following:
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either Hospice of Central Kentucky, Tarter's Chapel Cemetery Fund, or Gideon Bible Plan. These may be made at the funeral home. Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
