Obituary: Edgar Sullivan, 92, WWII

Mr. Sullivan attended Caldwell Ridge Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter who leaves a large family, with 40 living descendants

Edgar "Ed" Sullivan, 92, of 86 Quinn Hollow Road, Knifley, KY (the Knifley community) passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at 12:35am at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, after an illness.

The funeral service is Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 11:00am., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 200 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. Rev. George Hancock, Rev. Raymond Atwood, and Bro. Richard Rollins will be the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Quinn Hollow Cemetery at Knifley, KY. Military rites will be conducted by Columbia VFW Post 6097.


He was the son of the late Roby and Lessie Price Sullivan of Adair County, KY.

Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Ward Sullivan, on November 1, 2003.

He is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Billy Sullivan of Loveville, MD; Charles Sullivan of Ridge, MD; Earl Sullivan of St. James, MD; and Terry Sullivan of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Lorriane Franklin, Pittsburg, PA; Jenna Harden, Knifley, KY

  • One brother: Harley Sullivan, Albuquerque, NM

  • One sister: Vesta Duncan, Lexington, KY

  • And 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by three children: Jimmy Sullivan in 2001, Judy Marie Rollins in 2000, and Barbara Jean Sullivan in 1976.

Mr. Sullivan was a World War II US Navy veteran and a retired carpenter. He attended Caldwell Chapel Baptist Church.

The family request visitation after 1:00pm CT, on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
