Approximately 25 members of the Casey Family Association visited Columbia on Saturday, June 10, 2006.


The Casey Family Association is a national network of relatives of Peter Casey of which Adair County pioneer settle Col. William Casey and his family are decendants.

The Association held a National Family Reunion in Bowling Green, KY on Friday.

Casey's Station is stop on Adair County tour

The Saturday program was a visit to Columbia to visit the site of the original Casey's Station, the Casey home on Burkesville Road and the burial site of Col. William Casey.

Mike Casey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the President of the Association contacted local historian Richard Phelps on Wednesday about various locations for the family to visit.

Richard Phelps gladly showed members of the association the Billy Murrell property and spring.

Group sees Casey House, Casey gravesite at Bliss

J.M. Shelley gave the group a personal tour of the Casey House and grounds later the group visited the gravesite of Col. William Casey on the Bliss Road.

Later in the day Mr. Phelps gave the group a guided tour of the Trabue Russell House in Columbia.

Members of the group visiting Adair County were from Alaska, Oklahoma, California, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina and several other states.

Adair County history group seeks photo of Colonel William Casey

Richard Phelps made an appeal to the family for any type of sketch of Col. William Casey or any photo or copy of anything that could be displayed in the TrabueRussell House for people to see.

There is not a known copy of picture or Col William Casey or Col. Daniel Trabue and these would be greatly appreciated by the Trabue-Russell House and the Adair County Genealogical Society.
