Eight Adair County residents honored at Lindsey

Eight students from Adair County were recognized at the annual Honors Convocation, held Thursday, April 27, at Lindsey Wilson College.

They are Robert Brown, Jennifer Dudley, Anthony Ray Holmes, Andy Mann, Amanda Mae Montano, Andrew Reliford, Leticia Pedroza Salinas, and Isaac David South.


More detailed information on the individuals and their honors follows:
  • Robert Brown received the colleges Outstanding Tutor Award. A resident of Knifley, Ky., Brown is a senior. The Outstanding Tutor Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding student tutor.

  • Jennifer Dudley Furkin received the colleges Boyd-Lubker Oratorical Award. The wife of Joshua Furkin, Furkin is a communication senior. Furkin received second place in the annual Boyd-Lubker Oratorical Contest. Furkin has been the president of Lamba Pi Eta, a member of Alpha Chi, and has placed in the Boyd-Lubker Oratorical Contest every year since 2004.

  • Anthony Ray Holmes won the colleges Human Services and Counseling Award and the Evening Program Outstanding Achievement Award. Holmes is a human services and counseling senior from Columbia, Ky. The Human Services and Counseling Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding human services and counseling senior. The Evening Program Outstanding Achievement Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding evening college program senior.

  • Andy Mann received the colleges Choral Music Award. The son of Greg and DeAnna Mann, Mann is a contract senior. The Choral Music Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding choral music student. Mann has been the Lindsey Wilson Singers president, public relations director for the Student Activities Board and commuter representative for the Student Government ASsociation.

  • Amanda Mae Montano received the colleges Social Science Award. The fianc of Eric Fowler and daughter of Joseph and Janet Montano, Montano is a social science senior. The Social Science Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding social science senior. Montano has been involved in the womens tennis and intramural sports. She has been named to the Presidents List and the Deans List.

  • Andrew Reliford received the colleges 8-12 Secondary Education Award. Reliford is a secondary education senior. The 8-12 Secondary Educaiton Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding secondary education senior.

  • Leticia Pedroza Salinas received the colleges Criminal Justice Award. The wife of Raymond Salinas and the daughter of Patricia and Isaias Delgado, Salinas is a criminal justice senior. The Criminal Justice Award is given annually to the colleges outstanding criminal justice senior. Salinas has been the secretary of the criminal justice club and a member of Lamba Pi Eta.

  • Isaac David South received the colleges Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Award. The son of David and Valerie South, South is a business administration senior. The SIFE Award is presented to the colleges business-oriented organization. South has been the president of SIFE, vice-president of the accounting club, a member of the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants and a Student Government Association representative.
