Monday, September 3, 2007: Quacky Wacky Duck Race
The Columbia Parks and Recreations board is sponsoring the first Great Columbia "Quacky, Wacky" Duck Race. Instead of purchasing a ticket on the Holland Grill from Reeders Appliances you will be given a number that will correspond with a numbered rubber duck the day of the race. The Duck race will be held on Monday, September 3, 2007, and will start around the Russell Creek Bridge area going into Green Hills and the finish line will be around the Russell Creek Bridge on KY 206. The first duck to cross the line will be the winner. You do not have to be present to win. The cost of a duck is $5.00 and you will have a chance to win a Holland Grill from Reeders Appliances in Russell Springs valued at around $550.00. Ducks may be purchased at Grimsely's Jewelry, Thomas Photography, Columbia City Hall, and Reeders in Russell Springs. The Adair Project Development Board (PDB) for the Adair County Justice Center, will meet in a special called meeting at 5:30pm in the Adair Courthouse Annex. This meeting was necessitated by a delay in final drawings delivery which resulted in the cancellation of the regularly scheduled August 28, 2007 meeting. The PDB regularly meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm CT in the Adair Annex.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008: Abraham Lincoln bicentennial kickoff
The eyes of the nation will be on Hodgenville on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, as the site of the bicentennial kick- off commemorating the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Hodgenville is the seat of Larue County and is home to the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site, the Lincoln Museum, and the Lincoln Boyhood Home on Knob Creek.
