Col. Wm. Casey Elementary choir 'ENCORE' in concert here and on the road

This is a big time of year for the Col. Wm. Casey Show Choir Concert 'ENCORE' who will be in concert tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the school gym.

Then next week Choir Conducter Miss Cyndi Crowder, Caseys music teacher, and the group will travel to Chicago May 4-6 to perform in the national America Sings choir festival. This will be the second year that a group from the school will be attending the prestigious festival. Again they are expected to be the only group from Kentucky and possibly the youngest to perform.

While in Chicago the group will perform at University of Chicago/Comer Childrens Hospital. This trip has been coordinated with the help of Janet Hutcheson whose grandson, Mark, is a part of the group. Her son, Daniel, is a frequent patient at the hospital and is scheduled to be there to see the groups performance. They will also perform at the Pilgrim Lutheran School and Uptown Ministries, a Chicago area shelter for the homeless.

The grand event will be the America Sings Festival on Saturday. The group is scheduled to perform on the main stage of the festival at approximately 4:30 p.m. The night will conclude with a mass choir concert and a special performance by the director of all of the choirs in attendance.

Miss Crowder has been selected by the America Sings staff to be the keyboard accompanist for the directors performance. In addition, she will be presenting a workshop while at the festival. The group wishes to thank their parents, school, and community for supporting them in this endeavor.

The public is invited tomorrow to the home concert , April 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the CWC Gym. Admission is free of charge.
