Tara Elizabeth Conner, Russell Springs, KY crowned Miss USA LarOnTheAir has the story hourly today (Sat. April 22, 2006) She'll now compete in Los Angeles for worldwide title, Miss Universe. Additional links at end of story. Russell Springs' Tara Elizabeth Conner has achieved her Big Dream. Last night she was crowned Miss USA. It all started 'a long time ago.' In 1998 In an earlier interview with newsman Larry Smith, WHVE FM 92.7, the Wave, the 20 year old Conner told of her start in beauty pageants, when she was named Miss Russell County Fair. "That was a long time ago," she said, "I think it was in 1998." She was 13 at the time. But she was already looking higher, she said.. "I want to do more," she said in the WHVE interview, "my dream is to be Miss USA." Last night, in Baltimore, the dream came true. Tara Elizabeth Conner is now the reigning Miss USA. Larry Smith, who was himself named the top radio newsman by the Associated Press, has set up WHVE-FM as Tara Elizabeth Conner Miss USA News Central . He broke the story early this morning in local area, and is following it closely. There's a possibility that he may land an interview with Miss Conner today. "I know she's busy, but we'll keep trying," he said, Radio coverage on Miss USA hourly this afternoon Mr. Smith's newscasts are at noon, and at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and at 5:00 p.m., at 92.7 FM. The pageant was aired on NBC-Tv last night. A story. in the Washington Post details the crowning of the new Miss USA, Tara Elizabeth Conner of Russell Springs, KY. The story is also available in the Courier-Journal, along with a photograph of the new Miss USA. The story says that she will compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Los Angeles on July 23, 2006. Miss Conner, 20, won the title last night, Friday, April 21, 2006 in Baltimore, MD. She will now compete in the Miss Teen Universe.
