Basketball: Adair Co defeats Cumberland Co 71-66 By Trey Stephens On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Cumberland County Panthers 71-66 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Both teams relied heavily on starters. The Tribe saw only seven players enter the stat book, while Cumberland County saw just six. Matthew MeJean led the team in rebounding, with seven, followed by Shehan with five and George with four. The Indians were out-rebounded 28 to 24, but were able to keep Cumberland County from shooting the ball as well as Adair County did, holding the Panthers to 46% from the floor and 35% from three point range. The Indians made 54% of their shots from the floor and 42% from three point range, lead for the second time in a row by Tylin George, who put up an impressive 33 points, followed by John Shehan with 20. Those two were the only Indians to score in double figures. Rebounding could become a concern for the Indians as we move deeper into the season. This marks back to back games where the Indians have had to overcome a rebounding deficit. However, the team should benefit from greater size once Blakey and Gilbert return. The Tribe will be back on the court this Friday, December 5, 2025, as they make their first roadtrip of the season to take on the Campbellsville Eagles (0-1). That game will follow the battle between the Lady Indians and Lady Eagles, which has a scheduled tip of 5:30pmCT/6:30pmET. This story was posted on 2025-12-03 14:59:58
