Foothills Academy walk-aways, caught, now in Adair Youth Development Center

Trio from Clinton County facility fleeing in stolen truck, finally stopped west of Burkesville; cruisers damaged; three now in custody in Columbia; no injuries in episode
Three walkaways from the Foothills Academy led the Kentucky State Police and Cumberland County Sheriff's Office on a chase that started in Clinton County and ended west of Burkesville.

The walkaways' run was finally stopped with tire flattening devices. The three were lodged in the maximum security Adair County Youth Development Center, Columbia, KY.


Call received Sunday, April 2, 2006

On Sunday evening, April 2, 2006, at around 9:20 p.m. (2120 hours) Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, received a call from Clinton County about three walk-aways from the Foothills Academy, a residential facility for at risk youth, in Clinton County.

A short time later, KSP Tpr Stotts of the Columbia Kentucky Police Post 15 spotted a stolen truck traveling west on KY 90.

Tpr Stotts attempted to stop the truck, but the driver refused.

After a brief pursuit, the truck was finally stopped west of Burkesville, KY on KY 90, when officers deployed stop sticks to deflate the tires on the truck.

During the pursuit, a KSP Cruiser, a Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Cruiser, and a Burkesville Police Department Cruiser were struck by the truck.

No injuries occurred during the pursuit, and the suspects were lodged in the maximum security Adair County Youth Development Center, Columbia, KY.
