Barney Lynn Flanagan, 71, Russell County, KY Barney Lynn Flanagan, of Russell Springs, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was 71 years and 28 days of age. Born on October 14, 1954, in Somerset, he was the son of the late Vanro "Bobby" and Elsie Katena Popplewell Flanagan. Barney was an US Navy veteran serving from 1972-1975, earning the rank of SN. He retired from the Russell County Board of Education as a school bus driver. Throughout his life, Barney was also a truck driver and a cattle farmer. He enjoyed being around his cattle and being outside in nature. Barney had made a profession of faith in Jesus and was saved. He attended Parksridge Church of God. Barney is survived by his children, Chris (LaDonna) Flanagan, of Russell Springs, Heather (and Josh) Flener, of Morgantown, Andrea Flanagan, of Tompkinsville, and Heidi Flanagan, of Russell Springs; his grandchildren, Nathan Flanagan, Levi Flener, Kaylee Pruitt, Jameson Pruitt, Jacen Lee, and Katlynn Lee. In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie Kelsey. Funeral services are 1pmCT on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Billy Silverman officiating. Burial will follow in Parksridge Cemetery, with full military honors performed by the DAV Chapter 51 Honor Guard.
