Linda Lou Carmicle, 80, Liberty, KY (1945-2025) Linda Lou Carmicle, 80, was called by her Lord and Savior to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The 10th child of eleven, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Minnie Carmicle, raised in a Christian home and became an active member of the First Christian Church of Liberty, Kentucky. The Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center recently honored her entrepreneuship, personal achievements and public service in a ceremony. She is survived by a number of sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, a brother, Larry Carmicle of Liberty, her son Brian Peter Carmicle and grandaughter LuDrena Carmicle. Linda Lou was half-sister to her older brothers James, Howard, Paul and Jerry, older sisters Mona Troutman and Lorene Beal, as well as a sister to Mike and Buddy Carmicle and Brenda Sue Anderson who all predeceased her. Linda received her education through the local school system, with English being her favorite subject. Though she described herself as an average student, she enjoyed writing poety in her spare time and recently completed work on a novel that she titled "Just Yesterday". After graduation, she attended a school of cosmetology in Lexington, Kentucky, and brought her hairdressing skills back to her hometown, Liberty. Although she excelled, she yearned for a more challenging career and left Kentucky to settle in St. Petersburg, Florida where she began a successful swimming pool service. When the right time came, she sold the business to free herself up for travel and wanted to see as much of the world as possible. Her travels took her to the Grand Canyon, several areas of South America, and the country of Japan as well. She eventually returned and settled in Key West, Florida with her son Brian Peter Carmicle and husband Richard, returning to Kentucky from there to Casey County where she was on the board at Casey County Community Ministries and voluteered at the Gathering Place, a community resource for those in need. Later she worked for the Casey County News as a staff writer, a photographer and columnist. In her later years she stated that she was most proud of her loving family, her son and faith in Jesus Christ. There are no services scheduled, but a memorial service may be scheduled and shared later. Linda Lou will be missed by family and friends but she now travels the safe and blessed road to join with her family and the Lord. This story was posted on 2025-11-04 08:26:52
