Virginia Smith, 98, Campbellsville, KY

Virginia Smith of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Allison Shipp and Ruth Claycomb Shipp, was born September 6, 1927 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died Friday, October 24, 2025 in Campbellsville at age 98.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Virginia was known as an excellent homemaker, an amazing cook, and thoroughly enjoyed puzzles.


She united in marriage to James Earl Smith January 25, 1950 and he preceded her in death January 26, 2007.

Virginia is survived by two daughters and one son: Judy McDowell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melinda Thompson of Campbellsville, and Tim Smith and wife, Barbara of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Allison Unger and husband, Christopher of Massachusetts, Emily Young and husband, Stoye of Bowling Green, Jessica Coghill and husband, Tim of Campbellsville, Lesley Newton and husband, Troy of Campbellsville, and Samuel Welch and wife, Trista of Campbellsville; nine great-grandchildren: Jack Unger, Abigail Buser, Logan Young, Ethan Coghill, Allee Coghill, Addison Newton, Owen Newton, Josh Welch, and Jacob Welch; one great-great-grandchild, Jasper Welch; one sister, Jean Dyer of Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: D.C. Moss, Odgen Shipp, and Frances Hamby.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2pmET Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. John Butler and Bro. Tim Coghill

BURIAL: Brookside Cemetery

PALLBEARERS: Ethan Coghill, Tim Coghill, Tony Dyer, Troy Newton, Samuel Welch, Stoye Young
