Basketball: Breeze weighs in on return as interim head coach By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer Adair County athletics has announced that former Indians basketball head coach Deron Breeze will be back for the 2025-2026 season as the interim head coach. This comes after the departure of former head coach Jordan Brangers. I spoke to coach Breeze Friday about his return and he had this to say, "Coach Brangers stepping down after school began and Coach Cundiff deciding to take the girls position, there (was) a need for the boys head coach. I still live here, and don't (plan) to move. Adair County is my home and Mr Faulkner and Mr Maskill have always been great to me, so anything I can do for them I will, and they needed a coach in this situation, so I am more than willing to step in for the season. I have agreed to coach this season, and will see how it goes from here if I decide I want to keep on going, and also if they want me to keep on going." There is of course reason for excitement about a back-to-back-region-championship-winning coach returning, but the roster is still a far cry from what it has been the past two seasons, so I would hold off on the calls for a three peat at least until we see what the team looks like come season. But, nonetheless Breeze is back, and that is enough to celebrate for now. This story was posted on 2025-09-07 21:10:37
