By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County Indians Football team played the Metcalfe County Hornets in their second game of the 2025 season on Friday August 29, 2025, in Parnell Family Stadium. The team fell 8-7 in a game that saw both teams post poor offensive production.

The Indians rushed for 92 yards, 77 of which came from Sophomore Callum Darnell. Darnell also ran for the Indians' only touchdown of the night. The only other Indians player to post positive rushing yards was Ryder Rodgers, who had 7 attempts for 21 yards. The Tribe had 67 total passing yards, all from Sophomore Braxton McKinney, who went 9/21 on the night with one interception and no touchdowns.

Senior Arthur Harper led the team in receptions with 3 for 20 yards, followed by three Indians players with a couple of receptions each, all under 18 yards. Senior Mahlon Coblentz led the team in tackles with 12. Coblentz also led the Tribe in tackles for loss, with four. He was followed by Ryder Rodgers with ten tackles. Junior Jaden Wooten had the Indians only takeaway with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Indians will have a chance to get their first win next week as they travel to Liberty to take on Casey County. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30pmCT next Friday, September 5, 2025.
