State trout stockings re-scheduled due to ongoing work at Wolf Creek facility


Work at Wolf Creek Dam National Fish Hatchery requires change in trout stocking dates. Thousands of 8-12 inch trout are being moved to state streams

Several rainbow trout stockings originally scheduled to occur in April will be rescheduled for March 21-23. The schedule changed due to ongoing work at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery near Jamestown, where rainbow trout stocked throughout the state are raised. The stockings will include thousands of 8- to 12-inch trout.

Areas to be stocked Tuesday, March 21 include Beaver Dam Creek, Nolin Lake tailwater, Rough River Lake tailwater, Owensboro City Park Lake, Madisonville Park Lake, Bert Combs Lake, Beulah Lake, Sturgeon Creek, Station Camp Creek, Greasy Creek, Buckhorn Lake tailwater, Buffalo Creek and Mill Creek Lake.

Stockings scheduled for Wednesday, March 22 include Rough Creek, Sinking Creek, Cherokee Park, Fishermans Park, Cranks Creek Lake, Martins Fork Lake tailwater, Kingdom Come Lake, Line Fork Creek, Stanford Reservoir, Mingo Lake and the Herrington Lake tailwater.

Stockings scheduled for Thursday, March 23 include Carr Creek Lake tailwater, Fish Pond Lake, Russell Fork Creek, Fishtrap Lake tailwater, Paintsville Lake tailwater, Yatesville Lake tailwater, East Fork of the Little Sandy River, Grayson Lake tailwater, Hood Creek, Big Caney Creek, Laurel Creek and the Cave Run Lake tailwater.

Stockings in the Cumberland River tailwater are no longer announced.
