New football field and track for Adair Co. Schools

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

Adair County Schools has broken ground on a new football field and track on the site of the current stadium. The renovation of the current site will add an 8-lane track, new lighting, and a turf football field. The field itself will be outfitted with alternating shades of Green down the field with the two end-zones displaying "Roll Tribe" and "Adair".

The Indians football team is coming off their most successful season in a decade, and will take the field this season under Head Coach Cross for the first time after the departure of Steve Stonebraker.

The new facility will also provide a home to the Adair County Track team, which lacked a competition level venue, and had been using facilities at Lindsey Wilson University.

This renovation is an important step forward for Adair County Athletics, which continues to grow in offerings and facility quality as well as competition performance under the director of Athletic Director Tyler Maskill.

At a groundbreaking ceremony held on Monday, July 14, 2025, Superintendent Jason Faulkner thanked Senator Max Wise and Representative Amy Neighbors for their work in Frankfort to help secure funding for the Adair County Middle School, which allowed the district to take the football field project on as well.
