Basketball: Lady Indians 9-0 in summer play

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County Lady Indians Basketball team is now sitting at 9-0 in varsity games on their 2025 summer ball season. Recently the team defeated Rye Cove 41-16, Casey County 63-47, and Metcalfe County 45-38.

The win against the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets comes against a team that finished as runner-ups in the 4th Region Tournament last season. Metcalfe only graduated one senior, so that was quite a nice win for the Lady Indians. The leading scorer in that game for Adair County was rising senior Kinzlee Akin with 19, followed by rising sophomore Reese Bardin with 10. Addie Bowman, another rising sophomore, added 10 rebounds and 3 blocks in that game.

In the prior games, the Lady Indians were led in scoring by Reese Bardin against Rye Cove, with 12, and by Kinzlee Akin against Casey County, with 30. In the game against Casey County, Addie Bowman came up just short of a double/double, posting 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Adair County Lady Indians JV team is also having a good summer, winning both games they've played, 51-24 against Somerset Christain and 62-10 versus Spencer County. The Lady Indians will undoubtedly keep improving and get better as they gear up for what should be an excellent 2025-2026 season.
