Basketball: Indians finish Lindsey Wilson Shootout 4 and 2

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

In their first game on the final day of the Lindsey Wilson Shootout, Friday, June 13, 2025, The Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team fell to the Caverna Colonels 78-48. The game was never close, as Caverna ripped off a 15-0 run to begin the game. The Indians offense struggled mightily against a high pressure Caverna defense.

Adair County would eventually get their feet under them and start making shots, but they were never able to slow down the Caverna offense enough to threaten the lead the Colonels had built. Dawson Gilbert led the scoring for the Indians with 16, followed by John Shehan with 14, no one else for the Indians posting double digits.

The team faced Bowling Green High School later in the day. Last year's Indians squad split games with Bowling Green, beating the Purples in the regular season and losing in the postseason.

In the Lindsey Wilson Shootout, the Tribe was able to get the win 57-54 over Bowling Green. The Bowling Green team, much like Adair County, is searching for production after a mass exodus of players, thanks to graduation.

Adair County compiled a 4-2 record in varsity matchups in the Lindsey Wilson Shootout and a 2-1 record vs 5th Region opponents. The Indians will continue summer play on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Russell County.
