Basketball: Lindsey Wilson Shootout Day 2 preview

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County Indians are back on the court today, Thursday, June 12, 2025, for the second day of the Lindsey Wilson Shootout. The Indians Varsity went 2-0 yesterday notching wins against Thomas Nelson and Green County.

Today's Lindsey Wilson Shootout schedule includes:
  • 10:30amCT: ACHS Boys Varsity vs Wayne County (Biggers Gym)
  • 11:30amCT: ACHS Boys JV vs Wayne County (Wellness Court 1)
  • 4:30pmCT: ACHS Boys Freshmen vs Logan County (Wellness Court 2)
  • 5:30pmCT: ACHS Boys Varsity vs Harlan County (Wellness Court 1)
Admission to the Lindsey Wilson Shootout is $10, payable at the door in cash, card, and Venmo, and one ticket gets entrance to all games today.

The Wayne County Cardinals went 13-14 last season and saw their season end at the hands of Mercer County in a double overtime game in the 12th Region Tournament. The Cardinals should be poised for a better season this year though, as they did not graduate a single senior. Some very early predictions for the 12th Region have had Wayne County as one of the better teams, in a very crowded region that was won by Danville Christian last season.

Harlan County is just two years removed from a State Runner-up finish, led by now University of Kentucky star Trent Noah. The Bears last season went 25-9, ending their season in the second round of the 13th Region Tournament in a loss to the eventual region champion North Laurel. The Black Bears did graduate Maddox Huff, who was the team's leading scorer last season, averaging almost 30 points per game, as well as the team's second-highest scorer, Jaycee Carter, who averaged 10.6 points per game last season. Overall, the team returns just 31% of their scoring from last season and much like Adair County, will be looking for players to fill major gaps that were caused by graduation, but that is the essence of what summer ball is all about.

Come out and catch a game or two as your Indians take the court today!
