Shiloh Church and Montgomery family celebration

From Christa Gimbelle, great-great-great granddaughter of Frances Montgomery

If you are kin to the Montgomery family by birth or by marriage you are invited to join us for a big two-day event Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, 2025 for the Montgomery Family's Applied Genealogy Weekend.

We will also be celebrating Shiloh Christian Church's 150th anniversary, dedicating plaques at the Montgomery Family Pioneer Cemetery in Joppa and at Shiloh. The Montgomery Family provided the wood for the first (1875) Shiloh Church to be built, it’s first minister was Joe Montgomery

You don't have to be kin to attend either or both days. Contact information is at the end of this announcement to make arrangements.


SATURDAY, MAY 24th EVENTS:
11am - 12noonCT tour the historic Trabue Russell House in Columbia

12noonCT a complimentary lunch will be served in the Adair County Genealogy and History Center in Columbia After lunch, the program will include sources available and reviews on the Montgomery Family. The Center will have special exhibits on the Montgomery Family. The plaques in the Montgomery Family Pioneer Cemetery will be dedicated and then go to the cemetery to enjoy the landscaping and meet and greet.

SUNDAY, MAY 25th EVENTS:

We will begin the day with worshipping at Shiloh Christian Church at 10:30amCT(?). During the worship Shiloh's plaque will be dedicated and a history of the church shared

A potluck lunch will be served at the end of the service. Remember to bring a dish to Shiloh, one dish per three adults After the lunch, we will go to Frances and Mary Smith Montgomery's cemetery to try to find any information through the mud covering the graves. Bring any equipment you may need
