Betty J. Burris, 54, Columbia, KY (1970-2025)

Betty Jean Burris of Columbia died on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. She was 54 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Calvary Temple Church, New Concord Rd., Columbia, KY, with Pastor Troy McWhorter and Bro. David South officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Friday, and 9amCT on Saturday, at Calvary Temple Church.


She was born August 22, 1970, in Adair County, to the late Joe and Inis Estes Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Phillips and Darrell "Tom Dooley" Phillips and a sister, Patricia Fisher. Betty was a member of Calvary Temple Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include:
  • Her husband - Richard Burris of Columbia
  • One son and daughter-in-law - Wesley and Jessicia Burris of Columbia
  • One daughter and son-in-law - Brooke and Taylor Perkins of Greensburg
  • Three grandchildren - Judah, Camden and Hudson
  • Seven brothers - David Lawhorn (Terrie) of Greensburg, Bobby Phillips (Treva), Jim Phillips (Helen), Terry "Muscles" Phillips (Sherry), Steve "ToJo" Phillps (Stephanie) all of Columbia, Larry "Homer" Phillips of Russell Springs, Danny Phillips (Evelyn) of Murray
  • Four sisters - Diane Ford, Sherry Biggerstaff (Danny), Marsha Rowe all of Columbia, Janice McCuiston of Murray
  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Casket Bearers - Josh Phillips, Hayden Phillips, Joey Bryant, Jeff Ford, Taylor Perkins, Donnie Melson
