Mary Burton, 84, Columbia, KY (1940-2024) Mary Jean (Eads) Burton of Columbia passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at T. J. Health Columbia. She was 84 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Matt Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Monday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. She was born in Casey County, KY on June 13, 1940, to the late Leslie Eads and Alice Johnson Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband Freddie Burton and two siblings Evelyn Coy and James Eads. Mrs. Burton was of the Christian faith and enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include four children Tommy Burton (Carolyn) of Columbia, KY, Jeff Burton of Indianapolis, IN, Becky Carter (David) of Campbellsville, KY and Cathy Antle of Columbia, KY; seven grandchildren Scott Burton, Chris Huckaby, Chad Huckaby, Shawn Carter, Matthew Burton (Holly), Cheyenne Neat (Cody), and Kimberly Popplewell (Chris); eight great grandchildren Wyatt, Brayden, Jayden, Jaxton, Destiny, Kaycee, Brook, and Addie; one great great grandchild Miller; a sister Jewel Clements (Junior) of Liberty, KY and several other friends and relatives. Pallbearers will be Matthew Burton, Shawn Carter, Chris Huckaby, Chad Huckaby, Brayden Carter, Jayden Burton, and Jaxton Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Neat, Chris Popplewell, and Wyatt Richards. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at stottsphelpsmcquearyfh.com.
