Carol Perkins: The Window Previous Column: Away They Go! By Carol Perkins I wish I could hear all the funny stories that have happened to you and could compile them into a book. Laughter is good medicine! The following happened to a good friend, who told a group of us this account as we shared a Thanksgiving lunch. I will call her Susie rather than her real name, sparing her from recognizable fame! Susie's son called. "Can you go to the house and meet the guy coming to repair the bedroom window?" Susie pulled into the driveway and waited. Soon, a man in a regular-sized car arrived and rolled down the window. "Is this Miss Amanda's house?" My friend replied, "Yes, I'm her mother-in-law, and she sent me to meet you." Susie was expecting a truck rather than a car but assumed this person was there to take measurements or review the project. He looked puzzled but got out of his car as she raised the garage door. "Come on in," she said politely. He hesitated while she unlocked the inside door. She supposed he might not feel comfortable without the owner there, so she reassured him they had sent her. Once inside, he stood as if waiting for instructions, or so she thought. "You can follow me down the hall to the bedroom." His eyes grew wide, and he stood with his feet planted. "Ma'am, I'm only here to deliver a package to Miss Amanda." The poor guy left his package and ran to his car. Susie was laughing so hard she didn't have time to explain. We all have funny stories. I would love to tell yours. You can contact Carol at carolperkins06@gmail.com. This story was posted on 2024-12-04 16:36:28
