Nancy Rooks, 84, devoted Grandmother

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Nancy Luttrell Rooks of Columbia who passed away Friday. Bro. Michael Lemmon will officiate at the service.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Rooks in 1996. She was the daughter of Ed and Annie Maude Leach Luttrell of Adair County.

Mrs. Rooks is survived by:
  • Two sons: Johnny Rooks of Columbia and Gary Rooks of Glens Fork

  • Three daughters: Mitzi Burton and husband Billy of Columbia; Betty Burton and husband Joseph of Columbia; and Jean Arnett of Columbia

  • Two stepsons: Houston Rooks and wife Sharon of Scipio, IN; and Donald Rooks of Scipio, IN

  • Six grandchildren: Allison Karnes, Susan Rooks, Angie Sexton, Kenny Burton, Jason Burton, and Eric Rooks

  • Five great grandchildren

  • Several step grandchildren

  • Three nieces: Montra Hayes, Peggy Coop and Allene Miller

  • Two nephews: Richard Beard and Jimmy Beard

  • One special friend: Louis Long of Columbia
She was preceded in death by a step-daughter Fayelene Padila and a step-son Chester Rooks, and by one brother and three sisters and a granddaughter, April Rooks.

Following the Monday afternoon service, interment will be in the Lovedale Cemetery.

The family requests visitation after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
