Orvis Reese, 80, Russell County, KY (1943-2024)

Orvis G. Reese, of Russell Springs, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 80 years of age.

He was a proud US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed his time that he was stationed in Germany and always wanted to return there for a visit. He was a retired grocery store manager. Orvis was of the Christian faith and had been baptized. He enjoyed reading his Bible and had read it through many times. He loved trading knives and coins and going to flea markets.


Born in Russell County, on November 24, 1943, he was a son of the late Bro. Olvest T. and Jewell Burton Reese.

Orvis is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Reese and David (and Vickie) Reese, both of Russell Springs; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Orvis was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Roy Reese, who passed away on September 11, 2008; and one brother, A.G. Reese.

Funeral services are 1pmCT Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother John Bennett and Brother Carter Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 10 until the time of services on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be members of the Russell County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Russell County Honor Guard, P.O. Box 567, Russell Springs, KY 42642. Donations can also be made at the funeral home.
