Cora Ellen Hayes, 84, Casey County, KY (1940-2024)

Cora Ellen Hayes, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 84.

Born on March 1, 1940, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Lela Allen Scott. Mrs. Hayes retired from Fruit of the Loom and Campbellsville Apparel. She was a member of the Creston Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sewing.


She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Thurman) Bagby of Liberty; two grandchildren, Brian (Christina) Bagby and Kevin (Paul) Bagby; brothers, Thelbert Scott of Indiana and Gilbert (and Shirlene) Scott of Union; and sister, Louvenia Stafford of Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Warren O'Neal Hayes, who passed away on October 30, 2013; and a grandson, Thurman O'Neal Bagby.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 1 on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Thurman, Brian, Christina, and Kevin Bagby, Paul Cash, and Brandon Hale.
