Benjamin Harrison Bernard, 91, Russell County, KY

Benjamin Harrison Bernard, of Russell Springs, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at VA Medical Center, in Lexington. He was 91 years of age.

Born December 4, 1932, in Russell County, he was a son of the late Benjamin Jack and Angie Coffey Bernard. Benjamin was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors. Benjamin also liked raising a garden, cooking, and canning. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Benjamin attended Bernard Ridge Church of God.


Survivors include his two daughters, Crystal (and Bennie) Chaney, of Russell Springs, and Sherry (and Dan) Kappes, of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Roger Chaney, of Russell Springs, Nicholas Kappes and Aaron Kappes, both of Frankfort, and Stephen (and Christie) Kappes, of Amelia, Ohio; and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Kappes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Willis Bernard; a son, Barry Bernard; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services are 1pmCT Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Caleb Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Lucinda Cemetery. Visitation for the public will be from 9 until the time of services.
