Mary E. Book Corbin, 83, widow of William O. Corbin Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home shares the news that Mary E. Book Corbin, 83, widow of William O. Corbin, has passed away in Pennsylvania and will be buried there on Friday. She leaves behind one step-son and eight step-daughters connected to Adair County: J. W. Corbin, Reta Moss and Janet Sewell, all of Columbia, Enola Gifford in Elizabethtown, Betty Corbin and Elaine Brothers in Arizona, Phyllis Minnick in Virginia, Melba Schlimmer in Michigan and Margaret Corbin in Washington. Mrs. Corbin was the daughter of William and Melissa Hackenberger Book and in addition to her step-children, is survived by two sisters: Viola Lauver and Jane Benner, both in PA. She was a bookkeeper at the Patriot News for 26 years and a member of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church where her service will be held Friday, January 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. There will be viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Mifflintown, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International.
