Tandy & Loy Family Reunion on July 8

A Tandy & Loy Family Reunion is planned for Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 1pmET until we finish talking, at the Holiday Inn Express, 102 Plantation Drive, Campbellsville, KY. We have rented the hotel's meeting room near the lobby all day, and we have a block of rooms reserved under Loy Family Reunion. The number to reserve a room is 270-465-2727.

We are also in search of pictures our great-grandparents, Jeremiah Burbridge Loy (Jerry B. Loy) 1850-1892 & Louisa (Lou) Turner (Dillingham) Loy 1855-1917. My name is Jerry B. Huffman. I am the youngest son of Marilyn (Loy) Huffman who was the youngest child of Acy and Annie Loy. My Grandfather was Acy Loy, the youngest son of Jerry & Lou Loy who married Annie Tandy and moved to Lanesville, Indiana. My Grandpa Acy was a barber and part owner of the Columbia Barber Shop, downtown.

Reunion Agenda:

Bring old pictures and Annie & Acy Loy stuff to show
  • 1pmET: We will meet in the Hotel Meeting Room for catching up, lots of family introductions, stories and memories to share and reminisce. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. When we all are reasonably ready, Jerry will share insights into Acy and Annie (Tandy) Loy while they were finding each other (1900-1919) and started their family. He will also share the story of his Great Grandparents and how they all ended up in Adair County as members of very prosperous and influential families. It will be as brief as possible, and questions are welcome.

  • 2pmET or so: Around 2:00 or so (Kid time) when we all are ready, those who would like can take a drive. First we will make a quick stop at Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville to visit Annie Loy's and her parents R.E. and Dollie Tandy. Afterwards we will take a 25 mile drive down to Columbia to visit the Loy Family Cemetery full of our direct line relatives and lots of Great Grandparents; then to Haven Hill Cemetery for Acy & Annie's marker that was recently updated.

    Lastly we will visit the Columbia Barber Shop on the square which is the same shop Acy Loy was half owner of "Lowe & Loy" operated in the Jefferies Hotel Lobby circa 1914-1919. Then we will drive back to the Hotel in Campbellsville. Maps will be provided.

  • 6pmET: Dinner will be served in the Hotel Meeting Room. Fried Chicken and the fixins and iced tea of course. Then more time for visiting until we are all talked out.
