Phillip Coffey - Enough for Now

Enough for Now - by Phillip Coffey

No spring chicken these days - catching whiplash just about six inches
below the top of my crown. Coming in all contrary - shortly after high pitched
screeching sounds, sitting in my screened-in porch shed attached to the back of my split level house.

Can’t be ‘Doofus Jelly Tweet the cat’. He has wisely taking it all in stride - lying down
In one of his frequent naps below the swirling electric fans humming all of the
accounts of the season in breezy turns of revolutions thousands per minute - snoring it away.

Decided to stop listening to the news about the time in the fall of 1962
with the Cuban Missile; that was about the time all the hysteria began
between the Communists of Russia and the Democracy of the Western powers that be -
Doomsday clock almost stopped ticking.

Up and decided to settle down - took up slopping hogs and
frequently beheading chickens - off the Grid, totally.
Paid his taxes but not much of a living.

Sorted through all the junk mail - lot of stuff he read seemed suspicious -
Going to the moon for no particular reason that he could understand.

Heard about some mighty awful storms not too Far off in the
distance about hate, peace - not War - just superficial loving.
Why he didn’t even understand why they Up and started commencing.

It is time to join Doofus in his slumber festivities.
Enough already for this sunny warm pleasant day.
