Roger Carl Tackett, 62, dies Tuesday

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home for Roger Carl Tackett. He leaves family in Columbia and in Edmonton. Additional services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. (est) at Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church in Virgie with burial in the Frank Tackett Cemetery in Pike County.

A native of Jenkins, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Preston and Ida Elswick Tackett.

Survivors include:
  • One sister, Charlotte Shearer of Columbia

  • Three nieces, Ida and Sherry Shearer, both of Columbia, and Kim Wood of Edmonton

  • One nephew, Tony Tackett of Downers Grove, IL

  • One great-nephew and three great-nieces, Joe Butler, Stephanie Willis, Laura Rodgers and Kathryn Butler
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Donald Gene Tackett and Sandra Upchurch

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Bro. Hugh Withers will officiate at the Thursday morning service.
