WEEKEND TRACKING OF NEWS AS WE KNEW IT:

Adair County High School's Marching Band won the National Championship in Class A!!!

UPDATE: 6:07 p.m. Sunday: The band arrived home to downtown Columbia at about 5:12 p.m. The delayed arrival was necessitated because a group of performers had gone to London, KY, today, with Mr. Allen, for All-State Band tryouts, and the wait was for them to return and board the buses from Indianapolis before the parade began. Several hundred lined the streets, all of whom were wildly enthusiastic as the police cars, fire engines, ambulances, band support vehicles , and buses carrying Adair County's Finest triumphantly through the Square and on to the wrap up rally at the Adair County Schools campus. A report on that will be added later.

UPDATE 3:19 p.m., November 13, 2005: They have just left E-town! Dispatcher Teresa Butler has just called to say that the estimated time of arrival is 4:00 p.m. Fire Department, Police, Rescue Squad staging area for Grand Parade through Columbia is Innovative Designs across the bridge on North 55, the Campbellsville Road. There's time to get to town to welcome our heroes.
Saturday night/Sunday morning update: Finals have ended at the Grand Nationals competition in Indianapolis with fantastic news, and we're going to need a bigger band building to hold awards and trophies!

The caravan is on its way home as we write this and there is still time to be part of the welcome-home parade this afternoon. They will be communicating from the road with dispatcher Teresa Butler who will soon know their estimated time of arrival.
