Softball: LWC to host nonconference twin bill with Asbury

After consecutive weekends of nationally-ranked road trips, the Lindsey Wilson softball team is due back at Marilyn D. Sparks Park on Tuesday to host Asbury University in another non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3pmCT.

The Blue Raiders and the Eagles met earlier this season in Wilmore with the locals sweeping that twin bill by a combined score of 13-6.

Junior Kelsie Bostock finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and her first-career home run during that set of games. She also reached base two additional times off of walks and recorded nine putouts and one assist behind the plate.

The Alberta native is batting a career-best 0.211 on the year, and prior to the Blue Raiders' series at Georgia Gwinnett College this past weekend was on a six-game stretch in which she recorded seven hits and four runs batted in.

Speaking of the trip to Lawrenceville, senior Alexis Garayzar posted a team-high five hits against the Grizzlies and was flanked by fellow upperclassmen Desiree Chang and Za'Kiya Sizemore who each contributed four hits.

In the circle, Abigail Cruz and Grace Adams each turned in two complete-game performances versus the 11th-ranked team in the country. The latter of two fired a 1.75 earned-run average, while Cruz recorded the team's first complete-game shutout of the season to boast a two-game ERA of 0.54.

Asbury will enter Tuesday a full week off from its last contest versus Hanover College (Ind.). The Eagles have lost four consecutive contests and have only played four true road games so far this season, all of which coming back in early-February.

Against Lindsey Wilson earlier this year, Kaitlyn Wilson led-off for Asbury and batted 0.500 with three hits, and clean-up batter Taylor Enlow boasted six total hits, including four extra-base hits.

Josie Deatherage started in game two for the Eagles when they hosted the Blue Raiders and went five innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits while retiring six on strikes.

Lindsey Wilson's two wins over Asbury back in February extended its all-time record against the Eagles to 8-0. On average, the locals have outscored Asbury by five-and-a-half runs, and they will look to continue that success on Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m. CST.
