Q. How do I request absentee ballot by mail?
  • April 1, 2023 (12:01 a.m. local time) online portal is open to request an absentee ballot by mail. Links to request; govoteky.com
  • Calling the Adair County Clerk Lisa Greer's Office, 270-384-2801
  • Highly recommended: if possible, request by using Kentucky's Voter Information Portal


Q. What is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot?
  • May 2, 2023, 11:59 pm (local time), if requesting at GoVoteKY
  • If requesting in the Clerk's Office, May 2, 2023, by 4pmCT
  • Voters are encouraged to request well before the deadline if they know they will be voting absentee.

Q. When does the mail-in ballot have to be returned?
  • All mail-in ballots must be received by 6pmCT, on Election Day, May 16, 2023, to be counted.
  • Voters are highly encouraged not to wait to return their ballot; Cast your ballot as soon as you receive it. Do not delay!

Q. How can I return my mail-in ballot?
  • By mail, in the envelope provided
  • Drop box is available in the Adair County Clerk Lisa Greer's Office during normal business hours: Mon-Fri (8amCT to 4pmCT) Sat, (8amCT to 11amCT) local time. Election Day, May 16, 2023, 6amCT to 6pmCT Location: 424 Public Square, Ste3, Columbia
  • Open every Saturday unless a holiday falls on a Friday or Monday.

Q. Does everyone qualify for a mail-in absentee ballot?
  • No, you must meet one of the qualifications

Q. Do I qualify for an absentee ballot?
  • A resident of Kentucky who is a covered voter as defied in KRS 117.010.
  • A student who temporarily resides outside the county of his/her residence.
  • Incarcerated in jail and charged with a crime but has not been convicted of the crime.
  • Temporarily residing outside the state but still eligible to vote in this state.
  • Prevented from voting in person at the polls on election day and from casting an excused or no-excuse in-person absentee ballot on all days in-person absentee voting is conducted because he/she will be absent from the county of his/her residence all hours and all days excused or no-excused in person absentee voting is conducted.
  • A participant in the Secretary of State crime victim address confidentiality protection program as authorized by KRS 14.312
  • Not able to appear at the polls on election day or the days excused, or no-excuse in-person absentee voting is conducted on the account of age, disability, or illness, and who has not been declared mentally disabled by the court of competent jurisdiction.
