Carol Jean Cowan Luttrell, 62, dies

She was member of large Adair Co. family, Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church
Carol Jean Cowan Luttrell, 62, Columbia, KY, died Thursday morning, November 3, 2005, at Taylor County Regional Hospital, Campbellsville, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, November 6, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Bro. Frank Woods will officiate.


She was a daughter of the late Walker and Doris McGaha Cowan and was a member of Cornerstone Independent Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Rev. Vernon Luttrell, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Jannie Luttrell, Columbia, KY

  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Jimmy and Cathy Luttrell, Columbia, KY; and Jeff and Tiffany Luttrell, Watertown, IN

  • Four grandchildren: Garrett, Brenna Carol, Jeremy, and Bethany Luttrell

  • Nine brothers: Samuel Cowan, Springfield, IL; Calvin, Leonard, Vaughn, Phillip, Roger and Darrell Cowan, all of Columbia, KY; Rev. Clifton Cowan, Russell Springs, KY; and Donnie Cowan of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four sisters: Dora Ames, Petersburg, IL; Gertrude Burton, Talullah, IL; Leoda Curry and Glenna Cowan, both of Columbia, KY
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters: Luther, Gilbert, W.T., Cassius, and Kenny Cowan; and Peggy Fudge and Patricia Montgomery.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to either her church or Gideon Bibles.

Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Grissom Funeral Home.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
