ACSO: Sheriff's Office investigates injury accident in Knifley

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 5:02pm, Adair County 911 received a call of an injury collision with vehicle rollover 12 miles east of Columbia on KY76.

Preliminary investigation shows Unit 1, a 2019 GMC SUV, was attempting to make a left hand turn from KY 76 into a private drive. Unit 1 was operated by Julie Polston, age 26, of Campbellsville.

Polston failed to see Unit 2, operated by Kharece Roution, age 55, of Columbia, who was traveling straight ahead on KY76 in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee.

Unit 1 struck Unit 2 during the attempted turn, causing Unit 2 to leave the roadway and overturn.

Roution and her passenger, Barry Roution, were treated on scene by Adair County EMS, and then transported to TJ Health Columbia.

K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten is investigating the collision. He was assisted on scene by the Knifley Fire Department.
