Phillip Coffey - Dem Bones

DEM BONES - By Phillip Coffey

Mosing along -'them bones, 'dem bones', creaking along in his hand-me- down clothes.
Thunder and lightning, sometimes, so it often be true in these parts.
Creeks arising - mud washing down the sides of the ole familiar hills.
Swiftly fill up the creek bottoms - After a short while, cover up the corn crops.

Slowing down his pace - his feet 'sho' be sore, catch a ride for a mile or two.
But throughout all of these years - lost his appeal - keep on walking.
Break off a sturdy tree limb, use as a crutch - comes in handy when you 'ain't 'got much.
Find a dry place - use as an overhang clift for cover! Tidy up when the storm is over.
