Wording for School Tax question has been decided

The wording for the question to be put on the ballot in the Tax Recall Election, Tuesday, December 6, 2006, has been decided.

It is a simple, easy-to-understand question.

Voters will check a block "For" if they favor the tax, or "Against" if they oppose the school tax.

The wording is as follows:

"Are you for or against the Adair County School District levying 5.9 cents per $100 of assessed value building fund tax as authorized by KRS 157.440(1)(b)?"
For ____

Against ____

The entire cost of the election is to be borne by the school board. The County Clerk has estimated the cost to be in the $13-15,000 range.

A letter from Ann Melton, Adair County Court Clerk, to Sara Ball Johnson, State Board of Elections, 130 Walnut Street, Frankfort, KY, on October 28, 2005, informed Ms. Johnson that the election would be held. The letter from the Board of Education requesting the election be held was attached.
