Gradyville will have new voting house in time for December 6, 2005 election

Clerk reminds voters that November 7, 2005, is last day voters can register to vote in the special election
Gradyville will have a new voting house in time for the December 6, 2005, Nickel Tax vote, according to Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton.

The building will be on the east side of D&F Grocery on KY 80 in Gradyville. The building will be next to the blacktop parking lot at the store, the clerk said. "The Salyers (Daril and Frances Salyers, owners of D&F) have been wonderful to work with," she said.

The new building is being constructed now at the Z-Lock factory in Campbellsville. "It will have a metal roof, windows, and a little porch," Clerk Melton said. It will be be painted brown and blue, is 10'x14', and will be wired. All the county will have to do is construct the handicapped accessible ramp, and put in carpet or other floor covering, according to the county clerk.

The building cost $3,110, less than had been previously paid for a single-purpose polling place. The building should be on site in about two weeks, or around November 11, 2005.

The County Court Clerk reminds voters that November 7, 2005, is the last day to register before the Special Election on December 6, 2005.

The registration books will be closed from November 7 to December 13, 2005.
