Troop 185 wins young scouts division in Klondike Derby From Ty Coleman, Senior Patrol Leader, Troop 185 My Scout troop has just returned from an event called the Klondike Derby. It was an event held at Camp Crooked Creek near Bernheim Forest. This event is held every year and is competitive. Our troop was required to make a sled using lashings and pull it around the camp during the competition. Scattered around the camp were 10 different stations. At each station we had to complete an activity to continue. The stations included things like fire building, water boiling, orienteering, cutting wood, first aid, exercising, knots and lashings, and pointing out mistakes in a campsite. The goal was to finish all ten activities in the least amount of time. We won the young scouts division. Overall it was a very fun event and everyone really enjoyed it.
