County court clerk announces date; wording still in negotiation; new voting house or location for Gradyville
Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton has announced that the Special Tax Recall election will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005.

She received a call from Superintendent Darrell Treece's office this morning stating that the school board would not state a preference for a date. Mrs. Melton had stated a preference for the earlier date.

Wording for the question is still being negotiated, she said. Mrs. Melton said that she expects the wording to be decided no later than Monday, October 31, 2005.

Clerk in Gradyville, today, to set up new voting house

The clerk was to be Gradyville today, Wednesday, October 26, 2005, in search of a suitable voting location.

"We'll likely end up with a voting booth being built or moved onto a location at the store," she said.

"The store" is D&F Grocery, owned by Daril Salyers and Frances Salyers.Past elections have been held on the store campus, but Mrs. Melton thinks that poll workers and voters will be much more comfortable with the new building.

Clean and convenient restrooms are available in the store, and it has one of the larger parking areas of any rural stores in the county.

Mrs. Melton has not announced whether the new building will be available in time for the special election or not.
