Ohreta Sprague, 77, Russell Springs, KY (1945-2022)

Ohreta Sprague of Russell Springs passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at her home. She was 77 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1pmCT on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Miles Landon Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Good Tidings Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 10amCT on Wednesday, until time for services.


Ohreta was born in Russell County on April 27, 1945, daughter of Hollie and Myrtle Sharp Rexroat. She earned her bachelor's degree in human resources from Lindsey Wilson College. Ohreta met Billie Sprague while working in Cincinnati. The couple were married on September 25, 1965, and they enjoyed 57 years together.

Ohreta was a faithful member of Good Tidings Baptist Church. She worked many years combined with Sutton Shirts, Fruit of the Loom and Russell Sportswear. Ohreta enjoyed reading and gardening. She loved her church family, gospel music, playing piano and singing.

She is survived by her mother, Myrtle Rexroat, of Russell Springs; her husband, Billie Sprague, of Russell Springs; her son, William Dean (and Melissa) Sprague, II, of Russell Springs; her brother, George Ronald (and Ann) Rexroat, of Russell Springs; her half-brother, Bill Neat, of Cincinnati; her sister-in-law, Nadine Rexroat, of Jamestown, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Jessica (and Trevor) Miller, and Logan Sprague; her step-son, Tommy Sprague; her step-daughters, Alice Sprague Yeager and Sharon (and Danny) Moell; her step-daughter-in-law, Mary Faye Sprague; her step-grandchildren, Shawna (and Jason) Donovan, Michelle (and Justin) Kirby, Brian (and Joann) Moell, Eric (and Megan) Moell, Gina Stebbins, Alisha (and Jared) Hamann, Jason Sprague and Gary Bradford; six great-grandchildren; and seventeen step-great-grandchildren.

Ohreta is preceded in death by her father, Hollie Rexroat; her brothers, Johnny Rexroat and Hollie Pierce Rexroat, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Ann Marie Rexroat; her step-son, Terry Sprague; and her half-sister-in-law, Donna Neat.

Ohreta's pallbearers will be William Dean Sprague, II, Michael Smith, Trevor Miller, Xander Gossage, Greg Rexroat and Chris Rexroat.
