Travel: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado By Robert Ellis This National Park derives its name partly from the Gunnison River that flows through it and the obvious...dark colored canyon walls. It is a majestic canyon with numerous views at the many stops along the rim. There are two access locations to the park, the northern and southern rims. We visited the southern rim on this trip. The northern rim is unpaved, more remote and the least visited...similar views but with different perspectives. This park visit was our last on this trip. We added it to our itinerary since we would be flying back home to Kentucky from nearby Grand Junction, Colorado, the next day.
