Cecil George, 94, Columbia, KY (1928-2022) Pearl Cecil (Melson) George of Columbia passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. She was 94 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Sunday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Pearl was born in Adair County on May 12, 1928, to the late James Otha and Gertrude Helm Melson. Ms. George attended the House Upon the Rock Tabernacle Church in Russell Springs, KY. She enjoyed puzzle books, bingo, flower gardening, watching University of Kentucky basketball, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include five children Judy Sullivan (Charles) of Columbia, KY, Beverly Holt of Campbellsville, KY, Janet Carroll (Bill) of Campbellsville, KY, Jimmy George of Columbia, KY and Sheila O'Banion of Campbellsville, KY; two granddaughters Bridgette Smith (Todd) of Columbia, KY and Tasha Rogers (Jon) of Greensburg, KY; four great grandchildren Kayla Smith, Madison Smith, Easton Rogers, and Sawyer Rogers and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law William Ray O'Banion and G. B. Holt and ten siblings Eugene, Robert, Elwood, Ralph, Hershel, Russell and Clyde Melson, Mable Cape, Laura Bell Melson, and Lydia Richards. Pallbearers will be James Cape, Tommy Cape, Todd Smith, Jon Rogers, Wesley Melson, Jamie Hayes, and Richie Melson. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
